TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egyptian Quran master Sheikh Abdul Fatah al-Taruti in a TV program offered recommendations for qaris, urging them to observe the manners of recitation.

Abdul Fatah al-Taruti

He underlined the need to pay attention to the listeners when reciting the Quran, saying great qaris of the past recited the Holy Book in a way so that it would fit the listeners.

He added that recitation of the Quran has special manners and principles that should be safeguarded and acted upon so that listeners would get more interested in listening to the Holy Book.

According to Taruti, the way the verses of the Quran are recited should be in accord with the meanings of the verses.

Hence, every verse should be recited with a certain Lahn (rhythm) in order to convey the message.

Taruti is the chairman of the Muslim World Quran Memorization Supreme Board.

He was born in 1965 in the village of Tarut near the city of Zagazig in Sharqia Governorate.

He started learning the Quran by heart at the age of three and managed to memorize the entire Quran at 8.

A Quran teacher discovered his talent in Quran recitation and taught him the recitation skills.

He also encouraged Taruti to recite the Quran in various programs in the village.

Taruti then went to Zagazig to study at a branch of Al-Azhar and continued improving his Quranic skills by learning from masters like Sheikh Mohammad Al-Lithi, Shahat Anwar and Saeed Abdul Samad.
